Associated Documents

Associated Documents is used to record all documents associated with a note and provided facilities to record the;


Document title
File path when the document is stored on a computer or network.
A file reference where the document is stored external to the computer where Genota resides.
The document format. A drop down list of common document types is provided.
General comments and notes related to the document.


Associated Document List


The Associated Documents page (similar to that displayed below) is accessed by selecting the ASSOC.DOCUMENTS Tab at the bottom edge of the Note Details view.  The default display lists all documents associated with a specific note in document title sequence.

This page comprises two (2) components:




1. Section Bar


Displays the Associated Documents Maintenance dialog in Add mode ready to accept input.


Displays the Associated Documents Maintenance dialog showing details for the active Document in Edit mode.



Removes the selected Associated Documents from the file.


Show Comments


This button causes any rows of comments linked to an Associated Document to be displayed below the details row and the button caption will change to read HIDE COMMENTS. Click select again to HIDE the Comments row and reset the button caption.



Open Document

The OPEN DOCUMENT button causes the active document to be opened for display using the system default application, where an association exists. For HTML documents and URL's the default Web Browser will open at the link page, for email addresses the default email client will open ready addressed.


2. Primary Workspace

Displays a list of all Documents recorded. Refer to the section Grid Panels for details on rearranging columns.


Associated Documents Maintenance


Maintenance of Associated Documents is managed through actions taken at the Section Bar. By selecting the ADD or EDIT buttons the Maintenance dialog as displayed below will become active. Down the right side of the view are a collection of buttons typical to Input Dialogs.

If the Associated Document screen is open, as a record is being added its entry will be displayed in the background but will not be saved until the Save Button is pressed.
