Running Genota for the First Time

 
The first time that Genota is run the welcome dialog as shown below, will display. This dialog offers two (2) options:
 
 
Activates the registration dialog to enable registered owners of Genota to enter their license information
Continue Trial
Allows users to continue evaluating Genota for up to 14 days
Close
Close the registration dialog and exist the program. This button only appears  when the evaluation period expires
 
Select the Storage Location for Data Files
 
Genota requires that you nominate a folder into which the data files will be stored. The location of the folder does not matter as long as it is accessible to Genota.
 
For new installations a confirmation dialog as shown below will display requesting directory (folder) to be used. By default is it set to the DEFAULT LOCATION, the location for which is dependant on the version of Windows being used. The possible locations are:
 
     C:\Users\Public\Documents\Genota (Microsoft Vista, Windows 7 and 8)  or
     C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Genota (Windows XP)
 
 
If the CUSTOM LOCATION option is selected a dialog will display enabling the user to browse to, and select,  the folder into which the Genota Notebook files shall be stored
 
 
If when using CUSTOM LOCATION a new folder needs to be created, place the cursor on the directory tree at the location where the new folder is required and click select the button MAKE NEW FOLDER. Once created, rename as required.
 
Creating the first Notebook
 
Once the DATA FOLDER has been nominated the user is requested to nominate whether to start with either the SAMPLE NOTEBOOK  or CREATE A NEW NOTEBOOK.
 
 
Select the required option and then click select CONTINUE.
 
If the option to  CREATE A NEW NOTEBOOK is selected the NOTEBOOK MANAGER will open to enable the new NOTEBOOK to be created, else the introduction screen as shown below will display.
