Genota 4.0.0.22 only. Update to a later build.

Please ensure that the following conditions exist:

  • Ensure that the data folder for Genota 4 is different to that used by Genota 3. If unsure, use the reset data path menu option in Genota 4 to create a new data file location.

  • Make sure that you not have not created any Notebooks in Genota 4 with the same name as those in Genota 3. If so, rename them before you try the conversion menu option.

  • If after choosing the conversion menu option only some of the Notebooks transferred it may have been that the problem notebook/s have been created as new Notebooks in Genota 4 with the same names as the Notebooks in Genota 3. If so, rename the problem Notebooks in Genota 4 and select the conversion option again.

To move Notebooks from Genota 3.x to Genota 4 it is essential that the Genota 3.x data has not been relocated from its initial location. If so, the data path must be either re-established in Genota 3.x using the Set Data Path option. Once complete launch Genota 4.x and select TOOLS | CONVERT FROM GENOTA 3 from the main menu.

Genota installation fails and displays a dialog, displaying the message: Memory leak size 336, count 13, Unable to uninstall one or more directories, unable to uninstall one or more files. Try and do this manually.

This only occurs when trying to update from the Internet under builds 4.2.0.35 and 4.2.0.36. Should this dialog display when updating to a newer build, cancel from the dialog and continue with the new installation, or download the evaluation version. If the latter option is taken ensure that Genota is not running when you install the newer version. You can safely install the newer version over your existing version without impact on your data files.

The buttons displayed on the Exit dialog in build 4.2.1.99 operate in the reverse. Select NO to exit Genota.

In Genota builds 4.3.5.26 and 4.3.5.28 an update to the note editor was found to be incompatible with the report compiler when Notes were saves in RTV format, that being the native format of the Note Editor. This caused Notes created with this build to be saved in RTV format and when printed result in a jumble of numbers. This issue was fixed in build 4.3.6.33 however to fixed the Notes created with the problem perform the following on the specific version of Genota installed.

To fix in Genota 4

Open the Note in question,
Edit the Note Details , e.g, enter a space at the end of a paragraph, and
Save the note.

To fix in Genota 5

Open the Note in question
Save the note.

As the issue is related to interface components and not the database the notes cannot be automatically correctly.

In Genota 5 the Note Details may appear to contain 'garbled' text. This will only occur with Notes created in earlier versions of Genota and results for changes to saving and retrieving Notes in Genota 5.

To remedy, open the Note and click on the Note Details so that the SAVE button is activated, then SAVE the Note.

At present there is no method to automate this process.

The Person Analysis Report is designed to report by Event Date, ascending. If, when running this report it is found to be sorting incorrectly, select the menu option FILE > FILE MAINTENANCE > BUILD INCLUDED PERSONS SORT to create the sort file for the report. This function is only available in Genota 5.0.2 and later.

Whenever a note is viewed in Genota 5 a dialog is displayed indicating that the data has changed and requests if it is to be saved, even when no change has been made.

This issue has been fixed in Genota 5.1 however the first time a Note is opened the dialog may appear. Select save and it should never occur again.

When previewing REPORT > ALL NOTES the Correspondence Log, Research Log, Associated Documents and Included Persons information only appears on the last Note.

Upgrade to Genota 5 release 5.0.2.19 or later.
